The Fairness For High-Skilled Immigrants Act

The Fairness For High-Skilled Immigrants Act, HR 3012, is a bill that seeks to eliminate the individual per-country numerical quotas that apply to employment-based green cards. These restrictions would eventually be eliminated over three years. The House passed the bill in November and was ready to be passed in the Senate until Senator Grassley (R-IA) placed a hold on the bill in December. The Senator wants to add several other amendments to the bill that would add more restrictions to the employment-based green card field. Therefore, if Sen. Grassley’s continues his stance, which seems like he will, the chances of this bill passing are very low.
