Who can file the Form N-600?
- Form N-600 may be filed by any person claiming to have acquired (at birth) or derived (after birth) U.S. citizenship through a U.S. citizen parent.
- Any person who was born a U.S. citizen outside the United States or who fulfilled the requirements for becoming a U.S. citizen prior to their 18th birthday may file this form at any time during his or her lifetime.
- In the case of minor adopted or biological children (under 18 years) qualifying for citizenship under section 320 of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), the application must be filed by the U.S. citizen parent or
legal guardian with legal and physical custody of the child.
- In the case of an adult applicant with a disability, an immediate relative or legal guardian may file the application.
