What is the H-1B cap?

Answer:

65,000 H-1B visas per year

The H-1B visa is a visa category for foreign nationals who want to work in the United States in a specialty occupation that is complex and requires at least a bachelor’s degree. People with an exceptional ability connected to a U.S. Department of Defense research or development project and fashion models also belong to this category. The cap is just another term for the limit of visas issued per year.

There are 20,000 H-1B visas issued beyond the 65,000 cap. It’s called a statutory visa cap exemption. These extra H-1B visas go to people with master’s degrees or higher from U.S. universities.
