Answer:

More than 40% of the largest U.S. companies have been founded by immigrants or their children.

According to a 2012 report by The Partnership for a New American Economy called “Not Coming to America, Why the U.S. is Falling Behind in the Global Race for Talent,” more than 40% of the largest U.S. companies have been founded by immigrants or their children and 75% of all the companies funded by American venture capital had one immigrant CEO,CTO or VP of Engineering.

In the past, immigrants have been important in the establishment of large American companies like Proctor & Gamble in 1837, Pfizer in 1849 and U.S. Steel in 1901. Today, it’s large American companies like eBay, Google and Brightstar.
