Jon Huntsman and Rick Perry on the Same Page when it Comes to Immigration? Does the Tea Party Know This?
Once in a while, you hear common sense coming from the field of GOP presidential hopefuls. Recently, former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman agreed with is his rival, Texas Governor Rick Perry, on the issue of providing in-state tuition to some children of illegal immigrants. In fact, both don’t see the need to punish young kids for the “sins of their parents.”
In one of the Republican debates, Perry was attacked by Mitt Romney, Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum for signing a Texas law that allows some children of illegal immigrants to obtain in-state tuition at colleges and universities, and for his views on border security and immigration.
In 2005, Huntsman, when he was governor of Utah, signed into law legislation that created the Utah Driving Privilege card for people without Social Security numbers. This granted illegal immigrants driving privileges.
What is the Tea Party to do? Their champion, Rick Perry, agrees with Jon Hunstman on immigration. What to do, what to do?
