Application Support Centers (ASC) offer fingerprinting services after filing an application
for an immigration benefit. Applications cannot be filed directly at an ASC.
Customers are notified about their ASC appointments by mail.
Appointments maybe rescheduled by following the instructions on the appointment notice.
Information services are not available at ASCs.
Asylum Offices
Asylum applications cannot be filed directly at an Asylum Office. Asylum Offices handle
scheduled interviews only for asylum and suspension of deportation and
special rule cancellation of removal under the Nicaraguan Adjustment and
Central American Relief Act (NACARA). If scheduled for an interview, the applicant will be
notified by mail.
Local Offices
Very few applications are filed at local offices and they mainly handle scheduled
interviews on non-asylum related applications. Limited information and
customer services are available. If you have to visit a local office, it is best to
visit by appointment. Consider the USCIS web and phone services before deciding to
visit a local office.
Doctors
Generally, a medical examination is required for applicants for adjustment of status.
United States Citizenship and Immigration Services designate civil surgeons to conduct
these medical examinations.
