U.S. Green Card Lottery

Each year the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery program grants 50,000 permanent resident visas ("green cards") to individuals who meet strict eligibility requirements from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. This program is offered for FREE on the US State Department Site (www.state.gov) website during the "open registration period" that typically begins in October of each year and ends on the end of November. This official U.S. government program aims to diversify the United States population by creating an immigration opportunity for under-represented groups. Properly completed entries are entered into a computer-generated lottery and winners are randomly selected.Winners and their family members are able to live, work, and study in the United States! Its important to note that their are 3rd party Green card Lottery service sites that "review" and "submit" your application for a FEE and have no affiliation with the US Government.

Why would anyone use a private 3rd party "review and submission" service versus simply applying for FREE on the U.S. State Department Site?

IMPORTANT NOTE: We as a private organization recommend that people do the Green card Lottery for FREE. However, what the U.S. State Department DOESN'T provide versus 3rd party services is:

  • Let applicants know if they have been disqualified due to incorrect photo submission or other reasons. Once you submit, that is it, no more communication by the U.S. State Department unless you win. It is estimated that over 40% of submissions to the government site are automatically disqualified because of incorrect photos.
  • Allow individuals or families around the world to send a physically printed photo's. Many 3rd party services allow for physical photos to be sent and they in turn review and scan photos which in turn are submitted correctly to the U.S. State Department site.
  • Offer Phone and Email support
  • Allow applicants to change address once submission has occurred. If, for example, an applicant wins the lottery but then moves to a different location, that applicant will never know they one. This is important because it takes almost a year to be notified that you have actually won the Diversity Visa Lottery. By using a 3rd party service, they will be able to contact you via email and/or phone and send all winning documentation to correct address.

Which 3rd party sites do we recommend?

We recommend www.USAGreencardLottery.org as a reputable 3rd party company. Click here to start your application with them.

Another good place for you to get a independent 3rd party perspective is to go to: http://www.mygreencard.com/review.php Good luck with your application and we hope you can join us here in the U.S.A.
